A million units sold for the first week after release and number 1 in UK sales chart, World War Z is having a great launch so far!
Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Home Interactive announced that the zombie-infested video game World War Z sold more than one million copies on all platforms during the first week after its release. It took over Tom Clancy’s The Division 2’s top position on the UK retail sales chart, bumping The Division 2 and FIFA 2019 to lower spots. World War Z was launched last April 16th and since then, players have been trying to outlive the hordes of the undead. World War Z is inspired by the movie and novel of the same title and similarly, the game is a fast-paced adventure where you will have to survive in a world afflicted with a strange and virulent disease that has turned many people into bloodthirsty zombies. Players can choose from six unique classes in co-op missions for up to four players set in various locations throughout the world, such as New York, Tokyo, Moscow, and Jerusalem. World War Z supports multiplayer for team-based PvP.
Matthew Karch, Saber Interactive’s CEO, shared in a press conference that they are both humbled and thrilled with the immense success of the game. It was unexpected, to say the least. Karch emphasized that the tremendous support of Epic Games Store was a huge help to bring the game to where it is now. In the same interview, he then shared some of the plans for the future of the game. ‘Moving forward, we’ll continue to expand the game and its community with new improvements, stability updates, and bonus gameplay content, beginning very soon with a new special new mission for the Tokyo episode,” he explained. We can expect some sick developments for World War Z in the coming months. World War Z is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Epic Games Store.
