Villains take center stage in new Gotham Knights trailer

We got some good news and another look at the upcoming action game Gotham Knights during Gamescom Opening Night Live. First things first, the game is launching four days earlier than previously announced: October 21 instead of October 25.

Second, a new trailer dropped during Gamescom revealing the roster of villains showing up in the game.

Earlier than expected

There’s no official word on why Gotham Knights is coming out earlier than expected, though with the news of various anticipated games getting delayed, it’s actually a welcome development. With Gotham Knights already going gold last August 17, this is probably a means of getting ahead of other AAA games coming out in the same time period.

As for the villains, we already know from previous trailers that Penguin, Mr. Freeze, and the Court of Owls are heavily involved in the storyline. The new Gamescom trailer expands that roster. First, we get a quick view of serial killer Professor Pyg, quickly followed by Clayface and Harley Quinn, reimagined here as a Ted Talk-style criminal influencer. With Batman dead in this continuity, we can expect that Joker won’t be around either, making this a rare appearance of Harley without Joker.

Villains are not the only ones showing up, however. The trailer is narrated by Renee Montoya, who appears to be taking over Jim Gordon’s role in the GCPD as an ally to the Bat Family. In the comics, Montoya is also the vigilante The Question.

In Gotham Knights, Bruce Wayne’s former wards Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin fighting to protect Gotham City. Despite Batman’s apparent death, this universe is not connected to the Arkhamverse of games, unlike another DC property, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Gotham Knights launches on October 21, and you can pick up a Gotham Knights PS5 key from our comparator ahead of the rush.
