Vampire Survivors, the highly-addictive bullet hell game from Poncle, has been the most played game on Steam Deck for September 2020. For two months in a row now, it has beaten giants like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, Stardew Valley, and Marvel’s Spider-man Remastered. Now, Vampire Survivors is due to release version 1.0, leaving Steam Early Access on October 20, 2022. Poncle has also announced that the game will receive a slew of updates as well as a new game engine, though has kept mum on most of the details.

In a letter on their Steam page, Poncle stated that “since the Roadmap has been completed with patch 0.11.3, all the content that will be added in v1.0 is a surprise and should hopefully offer a little something for everyone.”
That new thing will be the new engine, which they described to increase performance while being compatible with more machines. The game itself will not change, but all save data will carry over to the new engine.
The game will also get new achievements and support for various languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
Finally, since it all can’t be good news, there will be some balance tweaks in the game, including a nerf to the overpowered Santa Water/La Borra item. More details will be published in the coming days as we near the official launch. Poncle has also said that this is not the end of development and that more content will be coming in the future.
Vampire Survivors leaves Steam early access this October 20th, just in time for Halloween. Looking to get into this addictive Castlevania-inspired action game? Pick up a Vampire Survivors PC key cheap from our comparator.
