Tom Clancy's XDefiant is the new F2P shooter from Ubisoft

As we told you ahead of the reveal, Ubisoft has announced a brand new game: Tom Clancy's XDefiant. They want to take Tom Clancy's franchise to a new level and to do so the French company has decided to join others in the competitive sector of the free-to-play multiplayer shooters. This genre has become quite popular in the last few years and there are plenty of popular franchises that now give you the opportunity of taking part in frenetic multiplayer battles for free, especially when it comes to battle royale. In the case of Tom Clancy's XDefiant, we are talking about a competitive arena shooter instead but it has all the elements needed to become quite a popular choice in the future, especially among the fans of Tom Clancy's series.

Tom Clancy's XDefiant will take elements from series like Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and The Division to deliver a thrilling competitive experience that will pit teams of six players against each other. With a variety of scenarios that will rotate and several gameplay modes, Tom Clancy's XDefiant will offer you a huge range of customization options for your character as well as plenty of weapons to choose from and gadgets to use on the battlefield.

The game is planned as a service, therefore, Ubisoft will be adding plenty of more content to it in the future, but we already know what characters you will be able to play initially. There will be four different factions available at launch, each of them inspired by one of the other games in the series and focused on a certain role in the game: Wolves are Tanks from Ghost Recon; Outcasts are Healers and Cleaners are Assault class from The Division; Echelon belong to the Support class and they are inspired by Splinter Cell.

Tom Clancy's XDefiant will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. You can already register to play Tom Clancy's XDefiant. Right now you can only register on one platform so you need to plan ahead because the game seems to be far from ready yet. If you want to be among the first ones to give Tom Clancy's XDefiant a try, feel free to visit the official website of the game and register to opt-in for the closed beta that will take place on August 5. It will be limited to players from the USA and Canada, but there should be more testing phases in the future.
