This year, the Epic Games Store began its free mystery game promotion with The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, followed by Vampire Survivors, Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles, TerraTech, Wizard of Legend, Dark and Darker - Legendary Status, and the highly praised fishing horror game Dredge. Dredge has now been removed from the lineup of free games on the Epic Games Store and has been replaced by the latest free title.

Today, the Epic Games Store is offering PC gamers a free copy of Control. This action game from Remedy Entertainment has been featured in giveaways twice before on the same platform (though it's been a while), so you might find that you already own it.

Set mostly within the Federal Bureau of Control, a covert government organization dealing with supernatural events, this third-person action game provides a variety of superpowers to combat the chaotic forces inside the facility. Players can gradually unlock abilities such as flight, telekinesis, and various psychic skills.

 

Control is also part of the interconnected universe that Remedy Entertainment is developing with its supernatural games. The studio's eerie horror franchise, Alan Wake, shares this narrative universe. Experiencing Control before diving into Alan Wake 2 will provide significant background on the events that have transpired in this bizarre world during the lengthy gap between releases.

Again, this is a completely free download. It is not a free demo or a trial version, but rather a full game available at no cost. There are no subscriptions or other requirements needed.
