The Callisto Protocol is now available for free on Epic Games Store this week

The Epic Games Store serves as a platform for purchasing and downloading video games, created and managed by Epic Games. It features a handpicked assortment of games for both PC and Mac, often offering exclusive titles and substantial discounts.

For those unfamiliar, Epic Games consistently releases one or sometimes two new games every Thursday for gamers to acquire and incorporate into their collections at no cost. Once claimed, the games become part of the user's permanent library, even though they may never get around to playing all the titles. Following last week's offerings of Death's Gambit: Afterlife and a World of Warships add-on, the Epic Games Store is currently providing The Callisto Protocol and Gigantic: Rampage Edition as freebies.

The standout game amongst the two is The Callisto Protocol, developed by Striking Distance Studios and Glen Schofield, the mind behind Dead Space. With a Metacritic score of 70, it was released in December of 2022. Set 300 years into the future, the game portrays the saga of Jacob Lee, who finds himself unjustly incarcerated in a high-security penitentiary on Jupiter's moon. Players are tasked with guiding Jacob as he endeavors to escape from the perilous prison, now inhabited by monstrous creatures that were once detainees.

The other free game available on the Epic Games Store this week is equally intriguing. Gigantic: Rampage Edition is a combination of a MOBA and hero shooter with a complex history. In short, the game was initially launched in 2017, discontinued in 2018 due to lack of traction, and relaunched under a different studio this year. The original Gigantic operated on a free-to-play model, and while the revived version usually carries a $20 price tag, it does not contain any microtransactions.

Gamers have until August 29 to claim both of these games, and you can claim them via this link here. Exciting content awaits on the Epic Games Store next week as well. From August 29 onwards, players can obtain a free Fallout bundle comprising Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, along with an arcade-style football game called Wild Card Football.
