Supermassive Games is continuing its horror streak with The Quarry. We got a good look at the game's spiritual successor to their hit slasher game Until Dawn, through the trailer released today.
This time, nine teenage counselors of Hackett's Quarry are spending the last night of summer camp by throwing an enormous party. As the tagline says: "no kids, no adults, no rules." But what follows is a blood-soaked night of screams as they are stalked by the insane local folk and the strange creature that haunts the surrounding forest. We don't know yet what kind of monster is stalking these teens; we'll have to play the game to find out.
Like Until Dawn, the player takes the point of view of each of the nine main characters. As the night goes on, you'll have to make impossible choices that determine who lives through the night.
The Quarry has several things going for it. For one, it borrows a co-op multiplayer feature from another Supermassive game, The Dark Pictures. Up to eight players can play The Quarry by voting on decisions and watching how the story unfolds. Players may each take control of one of the camp counselors through online play or couch co-op. Finally, you can watch the entire game in Movie Mode, which lets you see events unfold like in an actual horror film.
As a final treat, the game is full of Hollywood actors lending their voices. David Arquette (Scream) headlines the game, along with Lin Shaye (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Alex Winter (Modern Family), Justice Smith (Jurassic World series), Lance Henriksen (Aliens), Ted Raimi (Evil Dead series), and more.
The Quarry comes out on July 10 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Get your The Quarry code now from our price comparator.
