Capcom has on its back quite a successful story as a video games developer and publisher but it's undeniable that Resident Evil is one of its most popular franchises. The titles in the series have multiplied over the years and with the release of Resident Evil Village getting close there are more and more fans that are showing an interest in the new installment. The Maiden demo was a real hit, and it allowed players to discover the atmosphere of the main game without revealing much about the story itself. Now, we have the opportunity of learning more about the main storyline in Resident Evil Village thanks to a new video that was published yesterday.
This video is heavily focused on the narrative and confirms certain aspects of the story that the information previously available hinted at. The first one is that there are strange things happening in the village where the action takes place, and it's directly related to the inhabitants of the nearby castle, mainly Lady Dimitrescu and her family. The villagers, or whatever is left from them, seem to be hunted by monsters, and everything in the video screams that Resident Evil Village is going to be a "vampire story". But the involvement of the ever-present Umbrella Corporation will probably add unexpected turns to a plot that is yet to be discovered.
All that said, the footage n the video also serves to demonstrate that Resident Evil Village is going to be quite different from Resident Evil 4, even though both take you to a rather isolated village in Europe. For those that would prefer an approach to the game more focused on combat, Capcom has confirmed that the Mercenaries mode will return in Resident Evil Village. Therefore, you will be able to focus on monster killing without having to care about the story if you are looking for some fast and thrilling action.
The number of features and gameplay modes in Resident Evil Village keeps piling up and it may become one of the biggest games in the series at this rate. We will have to wait until May 7 to discover everything about the game and play it on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, but it seems that it will be packed with content.
