Resident Evil Games: too expensive in Switch

Capcom may have overdone it with their pricing for the Resident Evil franchise this time. Every Resident Evil fan was hyped upon hearing the that the triple pack (Resident Evil HD, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4) was coming to Nintendo Switch; however, that excitement died down pretty much as soon as the prices for each was revealed. All three of the Resident Evil games are set to launch this May 21st and each game costs £29.99 on Nintendo Switch. It’s a huge difference and one great jump compared to how much they cost in PS4 or Xbox One.

Resident Evil 4 is only £15.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, almost half the price when compared to the £29.99 on Nintendo Switch. Resident Evil HD and Resident Evil 0 cost £23 on PS4 as a bundle. This has caused a lot of negative reactions from players and fans alike, and many of them have started pointing fingers and talking about the "Nintendo Switch tax". This is a term coined by the great minds in the gaming community, and it´s related to how Switch games come on cartridges instead of discs. The production of those is more expensive than the latter, hence the increase in retail price. But still, gamers reason out that this is not a valid excuse as to why Resident Evil titles are outrageously expensive on Switch, most especially when they will not even be released in cartridges in the UK, since Resident Evil HD and Resident Evil 4 will only be available digitally, there will be no physical releases. Capcom is yet to comment or publish an official statement over the matter.
