If you started playing Playerunknown's Battlegrounds in its origins you probably bought the game but there was a free version of the game available that was also suitable for low-end machines. PUBG Lite offered you access to the battle royale but with less-detailed graphics, and it's been PUBG Corp's way of trying to get more players into their game for a long while. Even though you get a better experience if you buy the full version of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, PUBG Lite was the perfect choice for a lot of people, and we are talking about it in the past because you can't download it anymore.
The news has been announced via an official post on the game's website that reads the following:
"We are deeply grateful for the passion and support from the astounding number of PUBG LITE fans that have been with us. During the strenuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that PUBG LITE was able to provide our fans a fun way to stay safe."
"Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to close service after much deliberation and the time has come for our journey to end."
Since yesterday, PUBG Lite dedicated website is closed and it's not possible to download the game. If you were playing this version of the game you can continue to do so until APR 29th, 2021 05:00 (UTC). During that period, you are still able to purchase things with in-game credits as normal too, including any remaining L-Coins that you may have. Also, player support for PUBG Lite will cease on May 29th.
There's no official explanation for PUBG Lite termination but it's likely that having one less competitor will benefit other free battle royale games like Fortnite. Of course, Playerunknown's Battlegrounds full version is still available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC and you can find it at the best price on our comparator if you want to delve into the exciting battle royale experience that made the genre so popular.
