One of the big questions about the future of the NieR series is if we are going to see any more chapters. NieR: Automata was a really big hit when it was released in the West, and it's probably the game that contributed more to popularizing the series outside of Japan. The creator of the series, Yoko Taro, already had quite a success with Drakensang, but the adventures of 2B took the NieR series to a new level. After that, NieR Replicant continued to explore the post-apocalyptic and dystopic universe of the series, but as it usually happens with popular games, the fans always want more.
It seems that Yoko Taro does not have any plans to release any NieR title anytime soon. He has claimed so in a Christmas message in the official Twitter account of the NieR series, where he appears with the series producer Yosuke Saito and composer Keiichi Okabe. Taro is quite a particular person, and you can see him standing between the other two developers while wearing a mask.

The joyful dialogue between the participants in the video leaves the door open to the comment just being a funny joke, or at least is what most fans of the NieR series would like to think. In any case, it seems that there is not any new installment of the series on the way.
