While the announcement of a new installment in certain series such as NBA 2K comes as no surprise, the fans of the franchise still wait every year to see what new features the game will offer. NBA 2K21 was announced on June 11, during the presentation of Playstation 5 games.
The short video introducing Zion Williamson gave us a preview of the visual performance on Sony's upcoming console. And that's about it. We then learned that Zion Williamson was not chosen by chance, since it is the New Orleans Pelicans player who will be on the cover of NBA 2K21 for new generation consoles, while for current consoles, it will be Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers. Finally, the Mamba Forever Edition will pay tribute to Kobe Bryant, who died on January 26th. This latest edition will come with a free upgrade for new generation consoles.
We had very little information about NBA 2K21 gameplay, but a recently released video shows images of the game on current consoles. You will also be able to get an idea of what the new installment has to offer very soon, since the NBA 2K21 demo will be available from August 24 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The new features have been detailed in a blog post, but the main one is undoubtedly the update to the Pro Stick system, which will now work like this:
- Hold RS down = jump shot
- Hold RS left or right = escape dribble moves
- Hold RS up = signature size-ups
- Tap the RS = quick 1-to-1 dribble moves
- Tap the RS with Sprint held = quick momentum dribble moves
Many other new features are to be discovered in NBA 2K21, and you will be able to do it from August 24 with the demo, but also on September 4 when the game is released.
