Mortal Kombat 1 is finally getting crossplay in early 2024

Mortal Kombat 1 players are been eagerly awaiting for the game to get crossplay compatibility since it was released. Even though crossplay is not a must for a healthy multiplayer experience in the latest installment of the Mortal Kombat series, having a bigger player base is always good for matchmaking and promoting competitiveness. Back in November, Ed Boon confirmed that the game would receive such a feature but no date was appointed for its implementation.

Coming in February 2024

Developer NetherRealm Studios has now announced that it will be adding crossplay to Mortal Kombat 1 next February. This is exciting news for the fans of the game as they can now look forward to fighting against friends playing on other platforms in a couple of months. However, there is bad news for Nintendo Switch users as the update won't reach Nintendo's hybrid console for the time being. We don't know if the cause is the huge number of problems and the performance issues that Mortal Kombat 1 is having on Switch. The game has been heavily criticized for not being at the same level as the versions for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Mortal Kombat 1 will receive additional features alongside crossplay support next February. The future update will also add bug fixes and gameplay enhancements. We will have to wait for NetherRealms to release the patch notes to know more about the upcoming changes.

Mortal Kombat 1 has managed to rekindle the fire in the hearts of the fans with its novelties, including a complete reboot of the story.
