Mortal Kombat 1 news flies fast and thick now that pre-orders are live. One of Mortal Kombat’s co-creators, Ed Boon, has teased that MK characters will be receiving new origin stories for the latest installment. See his tweet here:

The recent MK1 trailer has already hinted as much. For instance, Mileena, who is known to be a creation of Shang Tsung and a servant of Shao Khan, is an ally of Kitana in this continuity. Apparently, Fire God Liu Kang has decided that the sisters should have a more cordial—and possibly more complicated—relationship.
That’s not all. The trailer also shows Raiden living as a mortal and working the fields. Meanwhile, mortal enemies Sub-zero and Scorpion appear to be starting off as allies, if not friends. Who knows what else Mortal Kombat 1 will bring, but we’re sure to know more when the beta tests start this August.
Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat 1’s Steam page has released its PC requirements. While they aren’t particularly demanding, the game does require a whopping 100 GB of space, roughly the same as Mortal Kombat 11. Apparently, all the dialogue and story cutscenes will take up much of the game.
