You know Marvel's Midnight Suns is a big deal when it casts prominent actors to play crucial roles. A few days ago, American actor and martial artist Michael Jai White announced that he had been cast as Midnight Sun's Blade, vampire hunter and Marvel hero.
This isn't White's first time as a comic book character, either. He's known for playing Spawn (1997), and Bronze Tiger in both the Arrow TV series and the movie Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021). Here's a featurette on White as Bronze Tiger, care of IGN:
In an interview with Comingsoon, White states:
“This superhero genre I'm still connected to I got a chance to play Bronze Tiger, and I'm the new voice of Blade for the Marvel game, the 2K [one]. So it's a great opportunity. I get to play these iconic superheroes."
White goes on to say that the portrayal will entail "mostly voiceover work and some imagery," so it's likely no motion capture would be involved in the process.
The casting would likely be sweeter for White because Blade was a role originally played by his close friend, Wesley Snipes, in the movie of the same name. Here's hoping that more big names get cast as superheroes in the game.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is a tactical role-playing game currently being developed by Firaxis Studios. Unlike its other popular tactical RPGs, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2, Midnight Suns will feature a card-based system where the battlefield is influenced by what cards get picked. The game will also feature a host of famous Marvel superheroes, including Wolverine, Dr. Strange, Iron Man, Captain America, Ghost Rider, and of course, Blade.
Originally set for release this March, Marvel's Midnight Suns was delayed to later this year. You can pick up the best prices for a Marvel's Midnight Suns PC key when it launches.
