Meet the Maneater in Lethal Company - The Stuffy Update

Meet the Maneater in Lethal Company - The Stuffy Update

Since its release, Lethal Company has become incredibly popular. Thanks to social media, this unique indie co-op horror game, developed by independent developer Zeekerss, has won the hearts of many and became one of the most popular games on Steam in 2023, with 240,000 concurrent players.

By 2024, although many games have been released with similar inspirations to Lethal Company, such as Content Warning or Pilgrims, each with their own twist, Lethal Company is still going strong. While it took Zeekerss three months to complete version 50 - The Hopping Update, version 55 - The Cruising Update took only one month to finish. Zeekerss also mentioned on Twitter/X that later updates for Lethal Company will be released at a faster pace.

And as expected, Zeekerss recently announced that version 60 of Lethal Company, titled The Stuffy Update, has officially been released, promising to bring new interiors, monsters, and features to the game:

Patch notes:

  • Removed the Kidnapper Fox (for now)
  • Removed the Bog Crawler
  • Removed the Goopy Goblin
  • Made changes to the Dine entrance positions
  • Changes to coilheads
  • Made optimizations to Flowerman and Spore Lizard AI to prevent lag spikes when they avoid the player in large maps
  • Added the Maneater
  • Added 7 or 8 new pieces of scrap
  • Added a rare chance for every scrap spawned on a moon to be the same type
  • Changed the wooden doors of the mansion to have a unique sound effect
  • Added the mineshaft interior
  • And many bug fixes

Lethal Company V60 - The Stuffy Update in a nutshell

If the patch notes for this update seem overwhelming, don't worry. Here’s a complete breakdown so you can dive right into the update without missing any important information.

Removed Entities:

  • Kidnapper Fox (added in v55) has been temporarily removed because some players found it too "annoying" and in dire need of a rework.
  • Bog Crawler and Goopy Goblin are running jokes in the game's community Discord, so technically, they didn’t exist in the game (yet).

New Entity:

  • Maneater (Cave Dwellers): These are alien bug-like entities. Maneaters have three phases: Quiet, Crying, and Adult. They start out as babies and soon begin crying, needing frequent attention. Otherwise, they will grow large and vicious. So if you encounter them in-game, make sure not to let them cry, or else things will get rough.

Zeekerss also mentioned that in the next update, he'd like to make store-bought items easier and more efficient to carry, even while collecting scrap. He also wants to add more furniture that players can buy for the ship.
