Milestone has unveiled the sequel to the acclaimed 2021 game Hot Wheels Unleashed. Titled Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, the sequel is due out October 19, with all-new mechanics, environments, vehicle styles, and game modes to rev up the arcade fun to the next level.
Retaining the charming aesthetic of scale model cars in a big world, the game now expands the racing fleet. In addition to more than 130 vehicle options available at launch, players can experience the thrill of driving motorcycles and ATVs. Stock, Powered, and Ultimate vehicle categories will differentiate performance. At the same time, players will be able to further customize their driving style using skill points to purchase specific perks and assemble their ideal custom build.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged features five distinct scenarios, each with unique racing surfaces that impact vehicle performance. Along with the greater diversity of vehicles and environments that open up more dynamic and strategic racing scenarios, daring driving and maneuvers skills are tested by adding two new abilities - dash and jump. Lateral dashing will allow for tactical impacts against opponents, obstacle dodging, and daring overturns until the finish line, while players will also be able to perform dramatic jumps anytime and anywhere.
With the press of a button, drivers will have new opportunities to overtake rivals, uncover hidden shortcuts, and discover new track sections. These innovations, alongside the drift and boost features already present in the first game, ensure that each race offers a unique and thrilling experience while giving players more control over their fate.
The modes are varied, including a narrative campaign with four original characters and animated scenes. Additional challenges, such as skidding and accident avoidance, are designed to test players' skills. The title supports online cross-play (except on Switch) and allows the creation of groups of friends. The two-player split-screen option also returns.
The first game creation tool has been improved, with a more robust Track Editor and an update to the Livery Editor, which features the Sticker Editor, allowing you to create and save custom patterns and shapes. All user-generated content will be shareable across platforms at launch.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged will be released on October 19 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC.
