The news about Grand Theft Auto VI are scarce but every single one of them is followed by a legion of fans that are eagerly waiting for any hint about a possible release date. Developer Rockstar Games is fully focused on the game's development and so far, we have only been entitled to an amazing video and spare bits of information about the protagonists. However, there is plenty of speculation around a possible PC release of the next instalment in the iconic series from Rockstar Games. In a recent interview, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has finally shed some light on this matter and even though what he said may disappoint some fans, it has served to confirm what the majority of them assumed.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles sometime in the future. This is rather unusual nowadays, as most titles released on both Sony and Microsoft consoles tend to be available on PC at the same time. However, Take-Two doesn't think that Rockstar Games' release strategy is going to have any impact on the sales. However, the importance of the PC as the platform of choice for many video game players has also been acknowledged in a recent interview with IGN.
“So with Civ 7 it's available on console and PC and Switch right away. With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”
“We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue.”
That said, it seems that everything points to a more than possible release of Grand Theft Auto VI on PC, but that will arrive later. Take-Two and Rockstar Games do not seem to be keen on changing their release strategy for the game, no matter how huge the hype for the game is. They are confident that the game will be a best-seller, and know that people will play it no matter what platform they use. That time difference was two years in the case of Grand Theft Auto V, so PC players can only hope that it will be much lower this time.
