The fourth installment in the God of War series has millions of fans all over the world but Kratos was already popular before having a son. Long before God of War presented the legendary god slayer as an an old warrior trying to become an accomplished father, Kratos had often embarked on epic adventures that saw him fighting against monsters and opposing the will of the gods. The original trilogy of God of War games already reaped countless awards on its journey and was a favourite of the fans on PlayStation consoles. The recent release of God of War: Ragnarök brought us the latest chapter in the series but rumour has it that the fans may have a new opportunity to join Kratos in his original adventures.
The 20th anniversary of the original God of War video game will take place in 2025 and it would be the perfect occasion to release a remastered version of the original trilogy. The Internet is full of rumors on this matter but Santa Monica Studios are yet to confirm if they are true or not. In any case, it would be awesome to play the original trilogy of games with modern graphics. Expecting something more than a graphic overhaul may be too much to ask, as the original games are quite different from God of War and God of War: Ragnarök when it comes to gameplay. However, if the remakes happen, it would be nice to see the addition of new features beyond enhanced graphics and controls.
There is still a long time until the anniversary arrives and many things can happen. As exciting as this news may be if Sony confirms it, the fans of the series would receive with the same joy the release of the last installment in the series for PC. Meanwhile, you should give a try to the modern version of God of War and join Kratos and Atreus in their adventures if you haven't already.
