Ghost of Yōtei is a story about revenge

Sucker Punch unveiled new details about their upcoming game, Ghost of Yōtei, which features a non-linear campaign centered around revenge. The protagonist, Atsu, seeks to avenge her traumatic childhood by hunting down the Yōtei Six, a group responsible for widespread destruction in Japan. As players track these warriors, Atsu's sash will display their names.

The game's setting in Hokkaido was researched in collaboration with experts on Ainu culture, ensuring a respectful depiction of the Ainu people. Players will enjoy the freedom to approach the Yōtei Six in any order, along with new close combat weapons, drawing inspiration from both Japanese cinema and Western dramas.

As big as it gets

Ghost of Yōtei developers have highlighted in a recent interview with Famitsu that the game is set to be the largest open-world adventure they’ve created to date, offering players a vast scenario to explore as they help Atsu claim her revenge. With Ghost of Tsushima as its predecessor, the new game from Sucker Punch has generated huge anticipation among the fans of the genre. These are eager to dive into the game's impressive combat system that seamlessly blends traditional combat with exciting abilities.

In a market flooded with linear storytelling, Ghost of Yōtei aims to become a breath of fresh air, proving that when players are given the freedom to forge their own path, the possibilities are as limitless as the landscapes they traverse. Also, this will contribute to making the game less repetitive than Ghost of Tsushima.

The game is set to be released on October 2, 2025, as an exclusive for PlayStation 5 consoles. Fans can expect plenty of new information about Ghost of Yōtei to be revealed in the upcoming months. Meanwhile, you can keep track of the best deals to pre-order Ghost of Yōtei with our comparator.
