Forspoken demo disappoints many players

Forspoken was announced quite a while ago and it was received with a lot of expectation. Several delays and a rather inefficient marketing campaign have taken the popularity of the game down a couple of notches but it's still quite an anticipated game. The adventures of Frey Holland in the strange world of Athia caught the eye of many players due to its magic-based combat and parkour, as well as an interesting story. The protagonist of Forspoken gets accidentally transported to a sprawling fantasy world governed with an iron hand by the powerful Tantas. She will have to find a way of returning to her home in New York with the help of her new magic abilities and a sentient bracer that also serves as her guide.

We already had the opportunity of watching Frey fighting some enemies and traversing the vast landscapes of Athia. Some players have even played the demo of Forspoken available for PlayStation, and that's precisely what is giving a headache to the developers now. The gameplay and the graphics in the demo look great, but many players are complaining about the side quests present in it and have taken their concerns to Reddit. Fortunately, this seems to be a minor issue in the eyes of the developers, so minor that it won't exist when the game releases.

The Forspoken demo currently available on Sony's platform is the same one that some players enjoyed during the last Tokyo Game Show. Back then it was already explained that it was a demo created ad-hoc for very specific purposes and that the final experience will be much better.

"That was a specially crafted gameplay demo just to give a feel for the mechanics of parkour and magic. So that was specifically kind of fetch quest-like in terms of the makeup, like, do these five objectives and then you get to fight a boss. So the full game isn’t actually designed like that, that was just specifically created for that demo experience."

The release of Forspoken is scheduled for January 24, 2023. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC. Unfortunately, if you have an older console you won't be able to play the game as it was specifically created to take advantage of the PS5 capabilities.
