Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn presents an extended gameplay trailer

A44 Games and Kepler Interactive (Ultros, Pacific Drive) shared an extended gameplay overview for the upcoming Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. The game is an action RPG, although many consider it a Soulslike. However, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is closer to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor than to an Elden Ring. To dispel any doubts about the gameplay, we suggest you watch the trailer below:

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn places players in the well-worn boots of Nor Vanek in the world of Kian, a Flintlock weapons expert in the Coalition Army. This sapper, along with her mystical partner Enki, find themselves in a relentless battle against the gods and the undead. Ten years after the Door to the Great Below was opened, gods and their armies of the dead began roaming the land. Players will hone their combat skills through fights against monstrous foes as they mix melee and flintlock weapons with devastating magic.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Has a Soulslite Gameplay

In combat, the developers say that Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn retains some elements of Soulslike but infuses its movements with fast and agile actions to create dynamic and explosive battles. In the trailer, it is noticeable that the protagonist does not have a stamina bar, a predominant element in Soulslike games. This combat style has been affectionately dubbed Soulslite by A44 Games.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn's combat features a parry and counter system bolstered by the three different weapon categories of Nor Vanek: Melee weapons, flintlock pistols, and flintlock firearms. Melee's weapons are her basic attack, presenting different modifiers depending on the weapon she wields. Attacking in melee recovers Black Powder, a resource used to shoot with flintlock pistols. Flintlock firearms and grenades are potent tools but with limited use. When the ammunition runs out, it will only be reloaded after resting.

As players progress through the world of Kian, it is possible to recruit former members of the Coalition Army. Some recruits will unlock new crafting capabilities and quest content. To improve or buy new weapons, reputation is consumed, the game's only currency. Reputation is also your experience points, indicating that you either spend it to evolve and learn new skills or to buy and upgrade your equipment.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is slated to launch this summer for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those interested in the game can check out our comparator for the best deals on Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn when it arrives later this year.
