FIFA 22 gameplay is focused on realism

Konami's announcement about Pro Evolution Soccer (now eFootball) going the free-to-play path has probably caught EA Sports off guard, as it's was completely unexpected. We still don't know the kind of repercussions that it will have on a genre that has always had PES and FIFA as the two main contenders. FIFA currently owns the licenses for the big majority of teams and competitions all over the world, and most of the players have their favorite, but the weight of the "free" factor in eFootball is still to be determined. Nevertheless, EA Sports seems to continue focused on the promotion of their upcoming game, and after announcing many of the features it has published a new video that lets us watch FIFA 22 gameplay for the first time.

The video is focused on explaining the new features in FIFA 22, especially those that contribute to add more realism to the animations in the game and the gameplay. It looks like Hypermotion does really have a big impact on the animations, making FIFA 22 the closest experience to a real football match while sitting at home. Sadly enough it's still suffering from being available exclusively for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia versions of the game. Even if the eFootball announcement may force EA to rethink its strategy regarding this matter, starting your marketing campaign with a part of your player base upset may not be the smartest idea.

We will have to wait to see what happens but there are a couple of things that we can take for granted. The first one is that FIFA 22 will bring the most realistic football simulation experience ever created, especially to those that play on next-gen consoles. The second one is that Konami and EA have taken completely different approaches at the genre this year, and it is yet to be determined who will end on the top.
