FIFA 22 announcement causes a huge backlash

Yesterday we told you about the announcement of FIFA 22, which took place last weekend. The game is meant to become one of the most important sports games of the year as it offers to the players the most realistic football simulation, but EA's decisions regarding its launch are not going down too well. As we explained yesterday, only the FIFA 22 version on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is going to include all of the features of the game. Those who play the game on PC, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4 will enjoy a version of the game that won't have one of the most exciting additions to the series this year: HyperMotion.

It's easy to understand that the old consoles need to have a different version of FIFA 22 because of technical limitations, but what about the PC? There are quite a few players that are complaining about EA's decision on this matter already, and it's currently a hot topic in social media. Executive producer Aaron McHardy addressed this issue quite fast and explained that it's the reason behind this choice is that they want to make the game accessible to as many people as possible on PC and this version will keep the requirements to play the game low.

Whether the statement manages to calm the fans or not, EA doesn't seem to be willing to offer them any other option than playing the game on next-gen consoles if they want to take advantage of all its features. And there seems to be another problem with that. It turns out that only the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 22 will allow you to benefit from Dual Entitlement, which lets you upgrade your copy of FIFA 22 from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S at no additional cost. Since the Ultimate Edition of the game is more expensive, EA is virtually charging you for an upgrade that was free last year.

It's worth considering that EA already had quite an unpleasant experience in the past when dealing with the fans in the case of Star Wars Battlefront II, and they should tread very carefully if they do not want this matter to escalate into something as bad as what happened back then.
