Elden Ring Nightreign, a new game in the Elden Ring universe, announced

During The Game Awards 2024, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware unveiled Elden Ring Nightreign, a standalone experience set in the world of Elden Ring. First things first, it's important to note that FromSoftware doesn't consider Elden Ring Nightreign a DLC, unlike Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. The studio defines Nightreign as a new multiplayer action-survival game challenging players to unite and take down the Nightlord.

Forming three-person teams or venturing out solo, the goal in Elden Ring Nightreign is to survive a three-day and three-night cycle, strategizing combat and exploration within a dynamic map to grow strong enough to defeat the bosses at the end of each day. This multiplayer-focused experience returns players to the Roundtable Hold, set in a universe parallel to the events of the Elden Ring.

Roguelike Twists in Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign has a roguelike flavor. Players will journey to Limveld, a constantly shifting map, where they'll need to make quick decisions regarding combat and exploration while contending with a nighttime cycle that shrinks the map as the Night's Tide approaches. At the end of each night, players will face a powerful boss and, if victorious, awaken to even greater challenges. Each match concludes on the third night, where the team must confront the chosen Nightlord. Fighting through the night solo is an option, but strength will come in numbers. Nightfarers must learn to cooperate, combining their unique skills for an unparalleled experience in the Elden Ring universe.

Not all hope is lost for those who fall. Unsuccessful matches will grant relics, allowing players to customize and enhance their characters according to their personal playstyles. Elden Ring Nightreign is unlike anything FromSoftware has created before. In this action RPG, no two experiences will ever be the same, as enemies, rewards, and Limveld constantly change and evolve. Defeating tougher foes and exploring the most dangerous parts of the map will yield more powerful weapons and greater rune rewards.

Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
