Dying Light reveals its 2025 roadmap

Dying Light reveals its 2025 roadmap

The gaming industry has a long history of franchises that have stood the test of time, and Dying Light is no exception. Released 10 years ago, the game captured the hearts of many with its unique take on the zombie genre and remains one of the best zombie games ever created. Now, Techland has unveiled an ambitious 2025 roadmap for Dying Light 2, beginning with a celebration event honoring the franchise's 10th anniversary.

In a recent press release, Techland shared its vision for celebrating this milestone:

"Players’ dedication has helped the franchise cement its place in the annals of gaming history. It has also created a vibrant and thriving community. Their passion has taken things to another level—from the creation of maps and their lore to fan art and cosplays, and everything in between. It’s amazing to see just what they do! And it’s their feedback that continues to help us improve the overall experience for everyone through requested features like the introduction of finishers to Dying Light 2: Stay Human."

An ambitious roadmap

The festivities begin with special in-game events for both Dying Light and Dying Light 2. Players can look forward to the return of fan-favorite modes such as Low Gravity and Super Crane. Additionally, Dying Light (2015) players will receive a complimentary skin bundle and enjoy the Hypermode event, which offers double XP rewards. In Dying Light 2, players can earn exclusive rewards from the original game by completing bounties available on the Pilgrim Outpost platform.

Starting the week of February 19, 2025, Dying Light 2 will permanently introduce the Tower Raid mode. Techland also plans to host a special Light Up the Night stream to engage with the community.

Looking further into 2025, here’s what Techland has planned:

  • A new spin-off game, Dying Light: The Beast, is set to release in Summer 2025.
  • Two major updates for Dying Light 2 are planned for Spring and Fall 2025.
  • Three seasonal events will take place, tied to Summer, Halloween, and the return of the Winter Tales event.
  • Smaller updates will include graphical and performance improvements, enhancements to co-op and matchmaking, new Tower Raid characters, free outfits and gear, support for community maps, and the addition of a new weapon class.

With the Dying Light franchise still going strong, 2025 is shaping up to be a busy and exciting year for Techland. The roadmap demonstrates the studio's dedication to keeping the franchise alive and thriving, giving fans plenty of reasons to stay engaged.
