Blizzard has released a new trailer for Diablo IV, showcasing the main mechanics of the Spiritborn class arriving with the Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred expansion. Equipped with Spirit Guardians, this class uses summons to wipe out large groups of enemies. According to the publisher, the hero will be protected by four Spirit Guardians.
Rezoka, the Hunter, is represented by a jaguar and uses fiery claws to decimate foes. Kwatli, the Seeker, is the spirit of the eagle, employing agility and thunder strikes to round out its arsenal. Wumba, the Guardian, symbolizes strength and protection in the form of a gorilla, with his physical attacks seeming effective for taking down hordes of enemies. Lastly, the final spirit is a centipede named Balazan, the Devourer, who exudes decay across the battlefield. Each Spirit Guardian is activated for specific circumstances and has its own unique functions.
The Spirit Guardians are available for a limited time and enhance the class's standard moveset. Additionally, they function as a sort of ultimate ability and should be deployed strategically. The Spiritborn class was announced during a special Xbox Studio broadcast on July 18. It's the first new class in the series for quite a while—unless you count The Tempest class from the mobile game Diablo Immortal. Diablo III had two DLCs: the first added the Crusader and the second introduced the Necromancer, both available in Diablo III: Eternal Collection. Players who only own the Diablo IV base game won't be able to select Spiritborn and must purchase the Vessel of Hatred DLC to access it.
In addition to the new class, the DLC adds a new region, Nahantu, and a new storyline involving Neyrelle, who is searching for a way to defeat the prime evil Mephisto while suffering under his torment. Vessel of Hatred will also introduce mercenaries, new PvE modes, and a wealth of fresh content to Diablo IV. Players can expect many new content, including legendary loot, pets, and new skills for all classes.
The Vessel of Hatred expansion releases on October 8 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Several distinct versions are available, such as the Standard Edition, Deluxe, and Ultimate. All pre-orders come with a pet and a legendary gem as bonuses, so if you want to secure your copy, check out our comparator for the best deals on Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred and get ready to summon your Guardian Spirits in the jungles of Nahantu.
