Ebb Software details some aspects of Scorn gameplay

Scorn has been quite an intriguing game since it was announced. The game has the work of H.R. Giger as an inspiration, and very few details about the story have been revealed. Therefore, players have focused on the different videos released to the date to get an idea about what to expect in Scorn. What we know of it so far is as interesting as the questions it raises. We play as a skinless humanoid creature trapped in a nightmarish world where everything seems to have a biological origin. With that premise in mind, the gameplay promises to deliver an experience with a deep focus on exploration, puzzles, and FPS mechanics that aims to captivate the fans of movies like Alien.

As you can see in the video above, Scorn is not a fast-paced first-person shooter. Weapons seem to have very limited ammunition, and the reloading process is quite long, and they feel more like tools that you can use to get rid of obstacles and progress through the game. Developer Ebb Software has delved into this matter in a new post on Steam that also includes several videos.

"Although there is shooting within the game, Scorn is by no means a shooter. The weapons provide more player agency, adding an extra layer through which you can engage with the world around you."

Some of the weapons in the game will also have a double role in the game, serving as tools that you can use to interact with your environment in unexpected and rather gruesome ways. The feeling of not knowing how to interact with such an alien environment and a notable scarcity of ammunition takes Scorn to a different level as a horror experience.

Ebb Software will continue to unveil details about Scorn in the next few months. The release of the game is scheduled for October 2022, so it won't be that long before all the fans can immerse in this nightmarish universe.
