The adventures of Jesse Faden as director of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) are taking a new turn with the addition of a new gameplay mode to Control. Developer Remedy has launched a free update that expands the content in the game allowing you to take part in challenging combat experiences wich you will have to complete in a set time. Expeditions will put to the test the skills of the most experienced players and are intended to be endgame content for Control.
Expeditions are special challenges where you will be facing Hiss in an alternate dimension called the Black Rock Quarry, where the Bureau has found a mysterious structure called the Formation. To access the Expeditions you will have to get a special Jukebox Tokens by completing Bureau Alerts and Board Countermeasures, but they also drop from named enemies and can be crafted at Control Points. You have to use those tokens in the jukebox that is at Central Executive to trigger an expedition. In each expedition, you have 25 minutes to complete four different areas in order to get powerful rewards. If you die you lose all your progress, and if you fail to finish the scenario in time you will lose your Jukebox Token and you will need to get a new one to trigger another expedition.
There are three difficulty tiers in Expeditions, and they will progressively unlock as you complete them. Every new tier adds random modifiers that can affect Jesse or her enemies, in s similar way to what Mayhem Mode does in Borderlands 3, forcing you to adapt your gameplay to the new conditions. The types of rewards that you can get from Expeditions include exclusive special mods, rare crafting materials and even new outfits for Jesse.
Along with the launch of this free update for Control, Remedy has confirmed that it will be releasing two paid expansions for the game in the following months, The Foundation and AWE, which will expand the content of the game with new areas and gameplay mechanics.
