Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 celebrates 500,000 copies sold worldwide

Sandfall Interactive’s debut RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is off to a remarkable start. The studio recently announced that the game has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, a milestone they admitted was reached "sooner than we'd ever imagined," thanking fans in a post on X/Twitter.

Launched on April 24 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — including a day-one release on Game Pass — Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has quickly gained critical acclaim. Despite launching shortly after the surprise release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, it has managed to stand out and find strong success on its own.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 unfolds in a beautifully imagined, fractured world inspired by Belle Époque France. Each year, a towering figure known as The Paintress awakens to paint a number on her monolith — the cursed age that marks those who will fade away. With the latest number being 33, the protagonists, known as Expedition 33, embark on a desperate mission to end her control over death.

Blending turn-based strategy with real-time action elements such as dodging, parrying, and targeting weak points, the game offers players extensive character customization and the opportunity to discover hidden quests and secret areas throughout its richly designed world.

Currently, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts impressive scores across major gaming review platforms, with many outlets awarding it a perfect 10 out of 10. The game is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Be sure to use our price comparison tool to find the best deal on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!
