Civilization VII Development is done, and the game is ready to be shipped

Firaxis, the renowned studio behind strategy games like XCOM and Marvel's Midnight Suns, has announced that the next mainline entry in the Civilization series has reached gold status, meaning that Civilization VII's development is complete, and the game is ready for shipping. Going gold is not just a confirmation of the game's completion but practically a pin down on the release date, which is unlikely to face delays due to technical issues.

The confirmation came via a post on the game's official Twitter account, where they also shared a message with the fans. Now, all that's left are the final preparations before the legendary strategy game's release on February 11, when it will launch for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII Has Gone Gold

Civilization VII is the latest chapter in the acclaimed strategy game franchise that has challenged players to build civilizations since 1991. In this new title, players will have the opportunity to expand territories, develop advanced technologies, construct architectural wonders, and engage in strategic battles against opponents.

Firaxis Games has already revealed the minimum and recommended PC requirements to run the game, and they've confirmed that Civilization VII will be Steam Deck compatible at launch. According to the studio, the game will require more robust hardware compared to previous entries, especially for those looking to experience it in 4K at 60 FPS. On the other hand, the Ultra settings recommend an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU to ensure a smooth experience with superior visual quality. While this requirement might surprise some players, it reflects Firaxis' goal of delivering an enhanced visual experience for the new generation of the game.

Firaxis has also indicated that they are considering bringing Civilization VII to Mac, as previous entries have made their way to the platform. However, they have yet to confirm this officially. Expectations are high that an announcement will be made before launch.

Civilization VII is set to release on February 11 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch, PC, and possibly Mac. The new game aims to be bigger, better, and more ambitious than its predecessors. If you're a fan of 4X games with a robust diplomatic system and strategy elements that extend from combat to managing your nation, you won't want to miss this entry.
