Sid Meier's Civilization franchise has changed a lot over the years but it has managed to maintain quite a wide fanbase. It's probably the video games series that has contributed more to the popularity of the turn-based strategy genre. Choosing your nation and developing it through the ages as you build cities and claim territory is just the basic elements of a game that turns out to be quite complex in many aspects of its gameplay but at the same time quite rewarding. As the latest installment in the series, Civilization VI includes plenty of new exciting features and offers plenty of options when it comes to developing your civilization and winning a game but there are also quite a few DLC that add new civilizations and additional features to the game.
But it's not all paid DLC for Civilization VI and developer Firaxis Games has also released quite a bit of free updates that brought extra content to the game. With the current season coming to an end, Civilization VI will receive a final update on April 22. It will include three new units that all civilizations will be able to use in their armies: Line Infantry equipped with guns, Man-At-Arms wielding two-handed warhammers, and Trebuchets capable of throwing huge boulders. The update will also bring balance changes to a lot of civilizations and it will adjust the power of most units in the game to keep tactical combat as challenging as ever.
This will be the last update included in the New Frontier Pass for Civilization VI, but Firaxis has not announced a new installment for the series yet. Therefore, it's quite likely that they are getting ready to reveal a new roadmap for the upcoming season of the game. We should hear about it in the following weeks.
