Although the Haunting of Verdansk event was announced a while ago, we didn't really have that many details about how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its free-to-play version Warzone were going to celebrate Halloween. The first-ever experience of this kind in the game kicks off today and players will be able to unlock special rewards by taking part in the event. For a limited time, a special nighttime version of the Verdansk map will be available and it will include Halloween-themed decorations, and a "Trick or Treat" reward system will give you the opportunity of getting special blueprints and customization items from Supply Boxes. Also, a brand new Zombie Royale mode will let dead players use unnatural powers to "feast on the living in order to rejoin their ranks".
As usually happens with this kind of event, there will also be plenty of cosmetic items available to personalize your character during Haunting of Verdansk and experience the spirit of Halloween in an appropriate style. Two special bundles will be available for purchase during the event. The first one will let you disguise as Billy the Puppet, the iconic character from the SAW films, and it also comes with several weapon blueprints, including the Phlebotomizer, a throwing knife that will drill into your enemies upon impact. The second bundle brings into the game another classic horror character. Leatherface, the bloodthirsty assassin in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It comes with a special stock attachment that will let you wield your weapon as if it was a chainsaw.
All those additions and more will make Haunting of Verdansk a truly spooky experience in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone. The event will be running until November 3 and this may be your last opportunity to have a lot of fun in those games before Call of Duty fans shift their attention to the new game from the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, which will be available quite soon.
