Baldur's Gate 3's huge patch 8 has been released
Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 8, released on April 15, 2025, marks the game's final major update, bringing new features and enhancements to enrich the player experience. Here is our overview of what's included in this update.
New features and cross-play availability
Each of the game's 12 base classes now has an additional subclass, offering new playstyles and character customization options such as: Barbarian – Path of Giants, Bard – College of Glamour, Cleric – Death Domain, Druid – Circle of Stars, Fighter – Arcane Archer, Monk – Way of the Drunken Master, Paladin – Oath of the Crown, Ranger – Swarmkeeper, Rogue – Swashbuckler, Sorcerer – Shadow Magic, Warlock – Hexblade, Wizard – Bladesinging. Promising new ways for old players to try the game again, albeit maybe the 4th or 5th run on this game.
Coming in Patch 8 introduces a crossplay feature, allowing players on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S to join multiplayer sessions together, enhancing the cooperative experience across different platforms. Photomode, another new feature added in Patch 8 also present, enabling players to capture in-game moments with various camera settings, filters, frames, and stickers, providing tools to create and share memorable scenes from their adventures. Now you can play together with your friends on different platforms and take pictures together in your journey in Faerûn.
As Larian has informed, Patch 8 is the final major update for the game and draws a line under what has been a remarkable time for the developer. Baldur’s Gate 3 launched to critical acclaim and enormous commercial success back in 2023, and has continued to sell strongly throughout 2024 and into 2025. However, they have teased plans to continue with the series.
