Video game developers are now used to the change in their working methods caused by the pandemic and many games that were delayed last year are now ready for a release. It's the case of Thomas Happ Games and Axiom Verge 2, the sequel to the popular Metroidvania side-scroller from 2015 Axiom Verge. The game was announced in 2019, but its launch has suffered a couple of delays, which is relatively normal considering last year's circumstances and that a small indie studio develops it. But the wait has finally come to an end, and Axiom Verge 2 is finally available.
In terms of gameplay, Axiom Verge 2 is similar to its predecessor, and it's an action game where you traverse scenarios killing enemies and avoiding traps. You can also deploy and control a small drone that can reach inaccessible locations and solve puzzles for you to progress. Axiom Verge 2 introduces new skills and allows you to evolve them into more powerful versions too. It also features a new dimension shifting system that will enable you to explore certain stages in two different timelines. The game follows the adventures of Indra, the mysterious owner of a worldwide conglomerate, as she explores an alternate version of Earth, looking for an answer to voices that seem to be calling to her.
Axiom Verge 2 is part of the same story as Axiom Verge 1 but is a completely new game: new characters, new powers, new enemies, and a new world. You can play it before or after the original.
With new gameplay mechanics but maintaining the same features that made its predecessor a referent among the Metroidvania indie games, you can find Axiom Verge 2 at the best price on our comparator anytime. It's available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 consoles and PC via Epic Games Store. A PlayStation 5 version of the game is coming in the future too.
