AMD launches the cheapest CPU in the Ryzen 7000 series

The company has just added a new budget-friendly processor to its product lineup, the Ryzen 5 7400F. This is considered the cheapest CPU in the Ryzen 7000 series and promises to be an attractive choice for PC gamers looking to save money.

The Ryzen 5 7400F features a 6-core, 12-thread processor with a boost clock speed of up to 4.7 GHz, a TDP of 65W, and 32 MB of L3 cache. While it’s not the most powerful CPU in the Ryzen 7000 lineup, its specifications are more than capable of handling casual gaming and everyday tasks effectively.

As its name suggests, the Ryzen 5 7400F lacks integrated graphics, meaning users will need a dedicated GPU to drive their displays. This processor seems well-suited for budget-friendly AM5 motherboards, such as the B650 or the newer B840/B850 chipsets. Among these, the B840 chipset appears to be a better fit for those aiming to minimize costs. However, it is important to note that while the B840 chipset does not support overclocking, the 7400F is an overclockable CPU.

Notably, AMD announced the Ryzen 5 7400F with a "Global" status, indicating that it will be widely available on the global market. This is in contrast to its sibling, the Ryzen 5 7500F, which is only sold as part of pre-built systems.

Currently, AMD has not disclosed the official price of the Ryzen 5 7400F. However, based on the price of the Ryzen 5 7500F (approximately $162), many speculate that the Ryzen 5 7400F will be priced below $150 to attract more users. If the Ryzen 5 7400F indeed comes with such an appealing price point, it is sure to be a strong contender for gamers looking to build a budget-friendly gaming PC with stable performance. Let’s wait for AMD to release official details in the near future.
