Learn everything we know so far about Destiny 2, the upcoming title from Bungie.
Developer Bungie organized a livestream event showcasing Destiny 2 yesterday and a lot of information and surprises have been revealed about their second take on the Destiny franchise.
First two important facts about the new title are that it's coming with a revamp of the weapon system and the introduction of some subclasses and skills for the current 3 classes of the game, as well as some changes some changes in the skills and functionalities of the old subclasses.
Chaingun and Grenade launcher will join the number of weapons available in the previous title and Primary, Secondary and Heavy weapon slots are to be replaced with Kinetic, Energy and Power weapon slots. Power weapons will include sniper and fusion rifles and also the new grenade launchers.
As the Warlock's Dawnblade subclass you get an attack that lets you jump in the air and strike with a flaming sword the enemies below you, being also able to use super abilities like Daybreak to create a healing or buffing area for players who stand inside.
Titan's Sentinel subclass allows you to summon a massive shield that can be used to block attacks, knock foes back or be hurled at enemies, bouncing between them.
Hunter's Arcstriker subclass will be able to summon and wield a staff in melee combat.
Titan, Io, Nessus, and Earth's European Dead Zone will be the four new planets ready to be explored that Destiny 2 will include. There you will find towns and NPCs that will offer you quests and there will also be Adventures as side quests that will involve things like hunting for treasure or fighting bosses.
Other than that, Destiny 2 will also bring some interesting changes on the multiplayer part, with The Crucible´s competitive multiplayer being limited to 4v4 and therefore, some of its old modes disappearing or getting important changes to adapt to that fact. On the cooperative side, the game will have Guided Games to help solo players matchmaking with established clans to participate in end-game Raids and Nightfall Strikes.
On the surprising side, Bungie has partnered with Blizzard so Destiny 2 will use their Battle.net platform on PC and the game will also support 4K resolution and uncapped frame rate, being able to reach even 144 fps. It will only reach 30 fps on consoles, though.
Other than the base game, there will be two different special editions of the game available, Limited and Collector's and they come with a lot of goodies as you can see below:
