A new Subnautica game is coming soon

Another sequel to the acclaimed Subnautica is apparently in the works, according to a recently revealed job posting by developer Unknown Worlds. We’ve already seen two different sides to the alien planet 4546-B with Subnautica and its sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero, and this new game is aiming to show us even more.

According to the job posting, Unknown Worlds is looking for a senior narrative developer. Looking for one this early in development gives that developer enormous influence in the direction of the game. Furthermore, the post states that the new game will take place in the same universe but not necessarily on the same planet, indicating a further expansion to Subnautica's already mind-boggling universe.

Unknown Worlds is seeking a Senior Narrative Designer to join the team working on the next game in the Subnautica universe.  This person will collaborate closely with the team to tell compelling, dramatic stories in the context of the game experience, while also defining the history and lore of a new science fiction world and its alien inhabitants. This person has a unique opportunity to join the team early in development and help establish the narrative direction for a beloved franchise.

Apart from the new Subnautica, Unknown Worlds is also working on another “unannounced franchise” that was started when the company was acquired by Krafton in 2021. The game is said to be a turn-based sci-fi strategy game and is targetting early access next year. Currently, Unknown Worlds is looking to hire a new 3D environment artist for this game.

Subnautica is a first-person survival game where you must explore, craft, and survive while stranded on an alien aquatic planet. While full of color, wonder, and plenty of tasks to keep one occupied, Subnautica is infamous for triggering thalassophobia and for its terrifying giant sea monsters that can attack with no warning. Its sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero, is much the same, but takes place in the arctic sector of Planet 4542-B, which brings a unique set of hazards.

There’s no news yet as to when either of the new games is releasing, so we’ll keep an eye on any developments. Meanwhile, you can pick up a Subnautica PC key or a Subnautica: Below Zero code cheap from our comparator.
