The remake of Destroy All Humans! gets a release date

Released in 2002 on Playstation 2 and Xbox, Destroy All Humans! is a relatively unique game. Although the gameplay is nothing revolutionary, the setting and the scenario of the game are worth their weight in gold. The game got a sequel, along with two other episodes, but the franchise had been stalled for years. We also thought that Destroy All Humans! was definitively buried following the closure of THQ which held the rights to it. But they were bought by Nordic Games, now known as THQ Nordic.

The completely offbeat franchise is not dead, and a remake of the first installment was announced in June 2019. We had not seen any new images of the game and no information about it had been published since then. At least until yesterday, when THQ Nordic released a new trailer that even reveals the release date of the game. Therefore, Destroy All Humans! will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on July 28, 2020.

If you are not familiar with the license, Destroy All Humans! takes place in the 1950s and puts you in the shoes of Crypto-137, an alien Furon sent to Earth to save one of his fellows captured by the American army. He is accompanied by his superior, Orthopox-13, who wishes to conduct experiments on the human brainstem.

In terms of gameplay, Destroy All Humans! is a third-person shooter game featuring five open worlds, in which you'll have to complete various missions to progress through the story. You will have at your disposal a variety of weapons, but also psychic powers and your flying saucer, of course. It also has a system similar to that of GTA games, the more chaos you cause, the more you will be chased by human authorities. But what made Destroy All Humans! famous, it is its caricatural aspect with regard in particular to the Cold War and the communist threat of the USSR, or even the Roswell affair and the films which were inspired by it.

If you liked movies like Mars Attacks or Paul, then Destroy All Humans! is likely to be a game for you. Of course, you can get it at the best price on our comparator.
