The youngest of you may never have heard of it, but The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk was a real phenomenon in the early 2000s. The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk was originally an audio series created by a single man, John Lang, aka Pen of Chaos, which also greatly contributed to launching this genre at the time. The series is based on the universe of role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons and also draws its inspiration from heroic-fantasy and adds a good dose of humor by parodying the codes of the genre. The story of the series stars a ranger, an elf, a dwarf, a thief, a barbarian, a magician, and an ogre, who are embarked in a quest to recover a relic hidden in the heart of the famous dungeon of Naheulbeuk. The audio series has been adapted to comics, novels, and board games over the years, and is about to have its video game adaptation, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos.
Although until now the universe of Naheulbeuk has been more or less reserved to French speakers, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos video game will be able to reach a larger number of people because it is fully dubbed in French, English, and German. The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, scheduled to be released this summer on PC, is a solo RPG with turn-based combat. You will discover the seven characters from the original series, each with their own abilities, but also be able to create your own character.
If you do not yet know the universe of Naheulbeuk, you can discover it for free right now, during the Steam Game Festival. The event offers a host of demos to try, and The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos is one of them. It allows you to play the beginning of the game and let you have a more precise overview of the mechanics included in the game. The demo is available on Steam until June 22 and you just need to go to the game page to download it. The developers have informed the players that saving is not possible in the demo, so you will have to play it in one go.
