Outward adds corruption mechanics in its new DLC

A few months ago Deep Silver announced that their open-world survival role-playing game Outward would receive its first DLC. With the name of The Soroboreans, this expansion for Outward will make things even more difficult for the players by adding a new element that they will have to keep an eye on if they want to survive: corruption. The game is already quite challenging and its difficulty is one of its greatest assets.

In Outward you start penniless and with an inherited debt that will mark the course of your story. Whether you become free of that debt or not is completely up to you, but surviving in a world that is definitely unfair and where you have to deal with warmth, hunger, fatigue, thirst, and illnesses will only be definitely easier if you don't have the added pressure of a huge debt.

That list of problems is about to get bigger, and when The Soroboreans DLC is released you will also have to deal with corruption. Although the effects of a high corruption level have not been specifically revealed it's been said that it will have "dire consequences" on your character and that it's difficult to remove. You will have to be very careful when exploring the new areas that will be added to Outward with this DLC, especially the ruins of the Antique Plateau, a huge city that was destroyed during the Scourge outbreak and a place that hides secrets and treasures for you to discover.

The Soroboreans DLC takes its name from a new faction of traders and academics that will also be included with the expansion, and that opens up a lot of new possibilities for you to explore in Outward. Finally, the DLC includes two new ways of developing your character. You can become a Hex Mage and use corruption and blood magic to weaken and destroy your foes, or use the abilities of the Speedster to lower your skill cooldowns and avoid damage in combat. The Soroboreans also features a new enchanting system that will allow you to give magic properties to your equipment.

If you want to experience all these new features you won't have to wait much longer because The Soroboreans DLC will be available for PC on June 16th, and a few weeks later for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 7th.
