Obsidian shows Grounded story trailer

Obsidian Entertainment is a renowned company thanks to its role-playing games. We owe to them games like Neverwinter Nights 2, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Tyranny or the Pillars of Eternity series, and more recently the amazing The Outer Worlds. It was quite surprising when they announced their upcoming project because the setting of this new game is completely different from anything they have done before. Grounded is an adventure in which you will have to explore the incredibly dangerous territory of your backyard... You probably think that there is nothing special about that but if we tell you that you will be reduced to a very tiny size it may start to make some sense.

Grounded is a survival co-op adventure where four children get shrunk down. They will have to explore the backyard of their home as they try to find a way of returning to their normal size. Of course, being really tiny allows them to see the world with different eyes and things and creatures that were easily ignored before will become huge threats to them.

The game reminisces of the film Honey, I shrunk the kids, but with a focus on survival. As you explore the uncharted territory of your backyard in Grounded, you will be able to gather materials to build a refuge and also craft weapons and armor to fight against pesky insects that will try to eat you when you invade their territory.

Grounded was announced during X019 and since then, Obsidian has been very quiet about it. At least until yesterday when a new video was shown and it was revealed that Grounded will enter Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview on July 28. That means that you won't have to wait too long to give a try to this new adventure. Hopefully, Obsidian will reveal a bit more about its gameplay mechanics before that.
