Guerrilla Games surprised everyone yesterday by announcing a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn during the PlayStation 5 presentation event. It's true that rumors about this sequel have been circulating for a while, but nobody knew if they were real for sure. Thanks to yesterday's announcement we now know that Horizon Forbidden West is a reality and that, like its predecessor did on PlayStation 4, it will take full advantage of the technical possibilities offered by the new console to offer players a new view of what the future could hold through the adventures of Aloy.
Horizon Forbidden West will continue the story of the brave heroine in her fight to save her post-apocalyptic world. America has changed a lot in the future and now robotic creatures roam the land. As we could experience in Horizon Zero Dawn, the remaining humans have to coexist with them, hunting the most dangerous one to survive. As you can see in the announcement video below, Aloy will have to face new threats in this game, and once more embark herself in an epic adventure to save the dangerous but beautiful world where she lives.
Horizon Forbidden West will take her to the west to discover new lands to explore and face many challenges in a constant fight for survival. Nothing about the story has been revealed, but the video gives us some hints and it's quite likely that a new type of plant could be affecting flora and fauna, putting the existence of the current ecosystem at risk and, therefore, the existence of the humans too. But the appearance of a new tribe that seems to harbor hostile intentions towards Aloy, indicates that the plot in Horizon Forbidden West will be more complex than that.
The only thing sure about Horizon Forbidden West so far is that the game is coming exclusively to PlayStation 5.
