Fairy Tail joins the list of delayed games

It seems that the year 2020 is not placed under the sign of punctuality. This first quarter, which promised to be rich in terms of major releases, will turn out to be very poor in the end. The announcements of the postponement of games like Watch Dogs Legion, Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and The Last of Us Part II have followed one after another, and a new one has just been announced.

The growing list of delayed games now includes Fairy Tail. The JRPG, based on the famous manga and anime series, which was originally due to be released on March 19, will not finally see the light of day until June 25, 2020. A press release was published on the game's official website, in which Keisuke Kikuchi, producer of Fairy Tail, explained the reasons for this delay:

“I am truly sorry for FAIRY TAIL’s delay, [...]. Please allow us to take further time to polish the game to ensure it is as high quality as possible, so we can offer you a truly immersive experience. We will be working hard to enhance the magic effects, event scene effects, improving the game balance, and more! We will talk about the improvements in more detail in the coming months. This delay will allow us to ensure we provide you a much more satisfying game. Thank you for your understanding!"

There is nothing unusual and you will find that the reasons mentioned are quite recurrent if you check other delays. Therefore, the fans will have to be patient and wait a bit longer before they can join Natsu and his friends in Fairy Tail.

What you can extract from all these delayed games, fifteen in total for 2020, is that the development and publishing studios take the opinion of players more into consideration. Releasing an unfinished game, or one that does not meet the expectations of players is risky today. Blizzard is actually experiencing it right now with Warcraft III: Reforged.

In any case, the new release date for Fairy Tail has been confirmed and the launch of the game is now scheduled for June 25, 2020, on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
