The end of the world begins with the Quiet Apocalypse. The Long Dark is a first-person survival and exploration game with no zombies or killer robots. Instead, it’s you against the harsh Canadian winter, struggling to survive alone in a cold and hostile environment.
The Long Dark keeps a slow, meditative pace, but the danger is very real. Every day, you must maintain your supply of food and water, get enough rest, and stay warm. You must explore your surroundings to scavenge, gather, and hunt for what you need. Through it all, you must fight off savage wolves, bears, and other creatures that may be hunting you. It has a story mode where you alternately play between pilot Will McKenzie and his estranged wife, Dr. Astrid Greenwood. When a mysterious geomagnetic storm downs Will's plane, the two must explore the barren wilderness of Bear Island, Canada, and find each other again.
Alternatively, in Survival Mode, you attempt to live for as long as you can in the wild, avoiding death from hunger, thirst, animal attack, illness, and the bitter, bitter cold. Explore 11 different regions ranging from a derelict town, a farming commune, a hydroelectric dam, a quiet river valley, or a barren mountain peak. Manage critical resources like clean water and firewood. Scavenge for weapons like the handgun or rifle, or craft your own bow and ax from scratch. Create winter gear from animal hides or scrounge around in uninhabited houses for clothing.
The remnants of civilization are open to you if you can brave the Long Dark.

If you do not have a Steam account, you will need to download the client from the official website, install it and then create your account. Once you are logged into your account, click on "Add game" in the bottom left corner and then on "Activate product on Steam".
