Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical first-person shooter that focuses on the anti-terrorist activities of a strike team composed of some of the best operators in the world. It´s been three years since the Rainbow Program was canceled, but the terrorist activities all over the world have seen a resurgence, mainly from the hand of an organization known as White Mask. As a result of that increasing level of threat, the program is reactivated, and a new director enters the stage, assembling a group of operators with members of the best counter-terrorism organizations from all over the globe in order to put an end to White Mask and any other terrorist groups that may threaten world peace.
In Rainbow Six Siege you will take the role of one operator of the Rainbow team. You will get to play as a member of the British SAS, the German GSG9, the French GIGN, the Russian Spetsnaz or the American FBI SWAT, joining an international team of 4 members in a variety of matches. Each of the operatives is specialized in a different area, either as an attacker or as a defender, with skills, gadgets, and weapons that promote a certain type of gameplay. Cooperation between team members is a must if you want to win a match. The game doesn't have a single player campaign or story mode, but instead of that it focuses heavily on cooperative matches and unlocking more operators and cosmetic options with the in-game currency that you win after every match.
The matches can be played in several PVE and PVP modes through 18 different maps. In each of those modes, your team will have to achieve certain objectives, and the opposing team will usually have to stop you doing so in order to win the match. Competitive multiplayer modes are Hostage, Bomb, Terrorist Hunt and Secure Area. You will be able to play 10 different single player missions through the Situations mode, that also serves as the introduction to the gameplay mechanics in Rainbow Six Siege.
Rainbow Six Siege is a very tactical FPS, full of action and with a fluid gameplay, where teamwork is mandatory. Your team will carry out dangerous operations all over the world and since each of its members is heavily specialized in a certain area, communication between you and your people so you can work as a well-oiled rig is the key to success. The game features an impressive environmental destruction system that will allow you to use explosives and the like to gain a tactical advantage over your opponents, blowing holes through the walls or the ceiling to create access points and so on. On the defending side, you will have the means to fortify your position and even set traps and barricades to hinder the advance of the enemy.
