This game is set in the World of Darkness, the same universe as Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, and is a third-person, single-player action role-playing game where you take the role of a werewolf. Werewolves are eco-warriors fighting to protect Gaia and reclaim the natural world from evil corporations. Explore large parts of the north-west of America which are divided into large hub worlds. In these areas, you will have to complete missions, some with effects on the world, and others that will take you to secondary missions. As the soldiers of Gaia, mother earth, werewolves can also travel to Penumbra, a space between the physical world and the spirit world, to meet the Great Spirit of the Waterfall and take on different missions and challenges that will reward you with shortcuts between areas, for example.
As a werewolf, you have access to three forms, human, wolf, and werewolf, each with their own gameplay mechanics. As a wolf, you can explore, access narrow passages, track, or spy unsuspecting targets. The human form is needed to talk to people, use machines, or interacting with the world and also going undercover. As a werewolf, you have a variety of combat skills that can be developed through its own skill tree.
An important part of the game mechanics is Rage. You gain rage every time you get in combat and you need to spend it to use special abilities such as leaping slams or charging forward. It is important that you use your rage or you will end up going feral and the only cure for that requires killing everyone in the nearby area, including your friends. Rage doesn't only fill up in combat either. When you talk to other characters you can gain rage from the conversations. You need to be careful in what you provoke people to say, as filling up your rage in conversation has the same result as it does in combat: you become a feral werewolf and have to kill everyone else to go back to normal.
