The Vale is an action-adventure RPG that is specially made for the visually impaired and sighted gamers. It uses the full potential of 3D sound to provide an audio-based experience with that in mind. The game forgoes traditional visual gameplay by utilizing "binaural audio technology" and "haptic controller feedback" (vibrations and motions in the controller that simulate the feel of touch with in-game objects) to create a medieval world for users with visual impairments, as well as for sighted gamers.
Your older brother is now the king, and you are to go into exile for political reasons. You are sent to the edge of the kingdom, but you don't mind. You were born blind and protected all your life so you relish this opportunity to do something more adventurous for once. When your caravan is attacked not far into the journey by hordes of troops of an invading army, you find yourself alone in hostile lands where you must scrape together supplies in hopes of surviving the long, dangerous journey home. With the help of a local shepherd, you must master skills, branching magic, befriend companions and survive the treacherous long and perilous expedition home. Along the way, they will reveal startling truths about their kingdom, the land, and the royal family.
