Developed and published by Sega exclusively for PS4, Judgment is an action-adventure game initially developed under the codename Project Judge. It is a spin-off of the Yakuza series and was released in Japan in December 2018 but was then pulled off out from sales in March 2019 due to the arrest of one of the game’s actor, Pierre Taki.

Gameplay of Judgment

Judgment is played in third-person perspective. It is a legal thriller set in the Yakuza world of Kamurocho and follows the life of private detective Takayuki Yagami as he investigates a serial murder case. The game’s fighting style is similar to Yakuza 0 where players are allowed to change to different styles. The game also has an investigation mode and players must find traces of criminals. According to Toshihito Nagoshi, Yakuza’s creator, both games have similarities in location and assets but both they greatly differ in the gameplay and the narrative.

Players in Judgment track suspects and criminals, discover clues and bring evidence to the court. However, extreme caution is needed because evil characters are looming in every dark corner. Take advantage of the game’s unique battle styles in taking down opponents and delivering counterattacks.
