Mortal Kombat is back! The all-new Custom Character Variations give you unparalleled command of your fighters to make them your own. The new graphics engine shows perfectly every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, bringing you so close to the fight you can almost feel it. Highlighting a roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat's best-in-class cinematic story mode continues the epic saga over 25 years in the making.
Mortal Kombat 11 is a 2.5D fighting game like its predecessors. It features different combat mechanics like the returning Fatalities and Brutalities, but new gameplay features have been introduced too. That's the case of "Fatal Blows", available for players to use when their player character's health falls below 30%, and "Krushing Blows", an improved version of a special move, activated when certain requirements are met. Also new is a "Flawless Block" mechanic, which allows for a comeback window after blocking an attacking with accurate timing.
The game is set to have 25 playable Kombatants at launch. The characters that were initially revealed in the series were veterans like Baraka, Raiden, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, and Sub-Zero, as well as Skarlet, who returned from the 2011 reboot, and the newcomer Geras, who has powers that allow him to manipulate the flow of time and generate sand-based attacks. Also introduced in this game is Kronika who, like Geras, controls the flow of time, and is said to have been altering the tournament's timeline since the series' beginnings. She is set to be the series' first female boss character. Each fighter has a special set of outfits and weapons, which can be further modified by players via the Custom Variation feature.
